CHANTILLY, VA – IAI System Engineer Andrew W. Royle is a recipient of a 2014 NASA Silver Achievement Medal for his outstanding contributions and high level of achievement in support of the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite R-Series Program (GOES-R) Ground Systems Program. Mr. Royle’s customer is recognizing him for his program leadership and technical expertise which have resulted in significant schedule and cost efficiencies and risk reduction for the GOES-R mission. Mr. Royle’s accomplishments on behalf of his customer and the GOES-R program will be recognized in a ceremony scheduled for August 26, 2014 at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. IAI recognized Mr. Royle’s GOES-R customer accomplishments in December of 2013 with a Millie Bayne Distinguished Service Award, IAI’s highest form of Above and Beyond employee recognition.
NASA’s most prestigious honor awards, such as the Silver Achievement Medal, are approved by NASA’s Administrator and presented to a number of carefully selected individuals and groups of individuals, both Government and non-Government, who have distinguished themselves by making outstanding contributions to the Agency’s mission. The Chair of the Incentive Awards Board (IAB) annually requests nominations for the various NASA honor awards After a rigorous review, the nominations are forwarded to the IAB chair for approval.
The prestigious NASA Silver Achievement Medal is awarded to Government and non-Government individuals or teams by NASA Center Directors for a stellar achievement that supports one or more of NASA’s Core Values of Safety, Excellence, Teamwork and Integrity, when it is deemed to be extraordinarily important and appropriate to recognize such achievement in a timely and personalized manner.
